Let me explain

When something is swept under the carpet, especially dirt, it’s a clear sign that our sense of responsibility is failing. We refuse to acknowledge that it would actually take very little to truly set things right. With this piece, I wanted to visually represent the situation on Italy’s coasts, focusing on the concept of responsibility. Every time a politician speaks on the matter, the blame or solution is always shifted onto Europe. The real issue, however, is that as soon as Europe is mentioned, the problem seems to disappear. No one takes responsibility, and the lives lost daily in the Mediterranean become just another tragedy to hide under the rug.
